Dhankawadi murder: 6 more arrested,including 2 minors

The Pune police on Monday arrested four more persons and nabbed two minors in connection with the killing of Rafiq Babulal Shaikh in Dhankawadi on April 5.

The Pune police on Monday arrested four more persons and nabbed two minors in connection with the killing of Rafiq Babulal Shaikh (19) in Dhankawadi on April 5. This was the fifth murder in the gang war that began during Navratri.

A group allegedly associated to Dutta Mane’s gang had murdered Shaikh,a resident of Kashinath Patil Nagar in Dhankawdi,around 11 pm on April 5.

Rasoon Shaikh,the brother of the deceased had lodged a complaint against Ankush Mane and others at the Sahkarnagar police station.

Three days after the murder,the Sahkarnagar police had arrested Mane.

On Monday,Sahakarnagar police arrested three more persons — Sagar Krushna Jadhav (20),Chidanand Mahadev Daduti (20) and Manish Raju Pawar (18).

While one more person was arrested by the crime branch,Harish Hanu Bhutale (19) was transferred to Sahakarnagar police station.

All the four have been remanded in police custody till April 16. Apart from the four,they also nabbed two minors on Monday.

Investigations have revealed that Rafiq was associated with the rival Pramod Navghane group.

Navghane was allegedly murdered by Datta Mane and his accomplices after a dispute ensued during the Navratri festivities in October last year.

Navghane group had allegedly killed Dnyaneshwar Jadhav,of Dutta Mane gang and Rafiq’s elder brother was arrested in connection with the murder.
