Sankalp Gaur, who scored 98.4 per cent,is the CBSE Class X topper in the city. Sankalp,a student of DAV public school,Aundh, had also stood third nationally in the National Level Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE) for this academic year.

“I am extremely happy with the result. I thought I had done some blunders in certain subjects, and hence, would score a little above 90 per cent. But I guess, they were not blunders after all,” said Gaur. “This would not have been possible without the help of my parents and the teachers.

I would like to especially mention Sanghamitra madam and Raghavendra sir,who were exemplary as teachers,” he said.

“Sankalp has always been a good student,” said his principal,Shephali Chitre. “He has always been a topper and also participated in various quiz competitions,” added Chitre.

Apart from studies,Sankalp loves cricket. “My favourite IPL team is Royal Challengers Bangalore. But unfortunately they couldn’t win the IPL this time. I am also a big fan of Ravindra Jadeja and Chris Gayle. Unlike IPL which is unpredictable and impulsive, academics have to be planned. I studied everyday and never let the syllabus pile up on me,” said Sankalp, whose mother works in high explosives factory and father works in ammunition factory,Pune.

Sankalp aims to become a scientist and hence will take up science in class 11. “I want to do research in physics and become a good scientist,” he added.
