Cong-Sena clash during campaign in Budhwar Peth

Tension prevailed in Budhwar Peth on Wednesday night after supporters of Congress and Shiv Sena candidates created a ruckus in the area.

Tension prevailed in Budhwar Peth on Wednesday night after supporters of Congress and Shiv Sena candidates created a ruckus in the area. They entered into a fight again when some of those hurt were taken to Sassoon General Hospital for medical check-up.

Four complaints have been registered by activists against each other at Faraskhana and Bundgarden police stations. As per the information from Faraskhana police,Congress candidate Milind Kachi was campaigning in Budhwar Peth area around 8 pm. A fight followed after his rally confronted that of the Shiv Sena.

The police have arrested eight Shiv Sena supporters. A cross complaint was registered by one of eight suspects,Deepak Vijay Maratkar,son of the Shiv Sena candidate. Three persons including Kachi have been arrested in the cross complaint.

Among the arrested are Rahul Alamkhane (35),Amar Maratkar (22),Deepak Vijay Maratkar (27),Shiva Maratkar (21),Kailas Hadale (40),Somnath Maratkar (22),Malka Maratkar (50) and Arjun Maratkar (55),Rajan Kachi (55),Pritam Kachi (21) and Milind Kachi (38).

Sudhakar Kate,inspector (crime),Bundgarden police,said,“A team from Faraskhana had taken all the arrested suspects to the Sassoon Hospital for medical check-up needed for the arrest. The suspects again picked up fight with each other. All the 11,including Maratkar,were arrested.” Meanwhile,all the suspects were released on bail after they were produced in court on Thursday.
