Concert for Saraswati Rane

Rane received training from Kirana, Gwalior and Jaipur gharanas of music and she was one of the first Marathi artistes who became a playback singer in Indian cinema.

A music concert is being organised by the Saraswati Rane Smruti Samiti at Tilak Smarak Mandir at 5 pm on June 5 to mark 10 years of the passing away of Saraswati Rane, a singer from Kirana family. Mina Phatarpekar, grandchild of Rane, will perform Swarvel at the event.

Rane received training from Kirana, Gwalior and Jaipur gharanas of music and she was one of the first Marathi artistes who became a playback singer in Indian cinema. Rane contributed to theatre, cinema and even religious fields through her singing.

Similar events have been held for the past nine years in her memory. Padmashree awardee Pt Tulsiram Borkar will play the harmonium. Kalpana Jhokarkar gharana will also perform, while Swati Patankar will be the host.
