Complaint against youths for beating shop owners

The Sahkaranagar police have lodged a complaint against some youths who allegedly beat up two shop owners who refused to give them Rs 1,001 as vargani for Ganesh festival on Tuesday evening.

The Sahkaranagar police have lodged a complaint against some youths who allegedly beat up two shop owners who refused to give them Rs 1,001 as vargani for Ganesh festival on Tuesday evening.

Police have arrested one of the suspects identified as Datta Rohidas Jagtap (25),a resident of Mahatma Gandhi society in Padmavati. His accomplices Lakhan Jagtap and others are on the run. Complaint in this case was lodged by Dhanraj Motiji Choudhary (33),a resident of Akshay Garden in Dhankawdi.

Police said that around 7 pm,Dhanraj and his brother Jitendra were at their shop near Sai Mandir in Padmavati,when the accused approached them and demanded Rs 1,001 as vargani for Ganesh festival.

The Choudhary brothers refused to give them money. The suspects allegedly abused them and then beat them up.

The suspect also threatened them. Dhanraj stated in his complaint that he lost his gold chain worth Rs 80,000 during the scuffle.

Police have booked the suspects under Section 324,323,504,506 (1),427,34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Assistant police inspector C B Mane,the investigation officer said,“We have arrested one suspect,who is a history sheeter. Search is on for his accomplices. Investigation is on to know if they actually work for any Ganesh pandal or where trying to extort money from shop owners.”
