Working with light
Sanwad-09 the annual college festival of the Allana College of Architecture,which concluded on February 28,saw a mélange of projects and models displayed by the students of the college. The theme of the festival was aptly titled-A Language of Light amid Darkness,wherein the students displayed portfolios that showcased the research done on the theme of light and architectural models which showcased the use of light. Accompanying these models was on display paintings and sketching made by the students of the college In addition to this there were music and film making workshops.The three days also saw a presentation by landscape architect Vikas Bhosekar about architecture techniques and designs. Architect Mayuresh Shirolkar also made a presentation on the relationship between film,stage and architecture. Also on the schedule were workshops by Pop Artist Jayesh Sachdev and Artist Shyam Bhutkar.

Winning ways
The students of the Digikore College of Animation and Design are on a roll after having won multiple laurels at various state and national events. The students recently won the first prize at the Short Film Competition organised at Footprints,by Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication,wherein they made an animated ad film on the cola giant Pepsi. They also won the short film competition at Ecofest,organised by Foliage Outdoors wherein they made an animated short film on the topic-Have a Nice Day. The students have also won an on the spot animation film making competition at Perception Animatrix organised by VIIT. They won a total nine awards at the Event Creazi’09 organized at Indira School of Communications along with a scholarship and cash prizes . Piyush Pimpalnerkar,one of the students says,“We are very fortunate to have had an opportunity to participate in various competitions and other co-curricular activities. The college faculty also encouraged us to participate in national and international level competitions and that was probably a reason as to why we keep winning.”
