It might be their maiden endeavour but for the students of the undergraduate courses at the MITSOM College, there is an exuberance of different sorts. True to their infectious enthusiasm, their inter-college festival aptly named Enthusia aims to host a photography competition for students who are studying in junior colleges across the city. The idea behind getting students from junior colleges to participate is to get them hooked on to photography at a younger age, informs Sumikshik Kshirsagar, the president of the photography club in the college.
Held from September 23-26,the first day of the event will see the topics for the competition being announced. Post that, students will have to find relevant pictures within the MIT campus itself. The pictures can be edited and cleaned after they are shot, he informs. In fact the students will be able to submit the pictures till September 24,as it is a holiday, he adds.
The competition is divided into three categories- DSLR cameras,Point and Shoot Cameras, and Mobile Cameras. Kshirsagar mentions that it was necessary to avoid an unfair competiting ground for the students. Those shooting with DSLR cameras will need to submit the photo in an eight by six print format. The point and shoot will be in the six by six format while the mobile camera pictures will be in the postcard size, he says.
The same competition will be replicated in December for senior colleges in Pune. In this version, the winners will get a winning certificate and a trophy. There will be two winners in every section. All the participants will also be given participation certificates, he adds.
