After the Anand Park Residents Association (APRA) took up the issue of misuse of open space in their area with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),the civic body has assured action against the structure that has come up in the area.
We will be taking action against the structure that is on the open space of Anand Park, said Vivek Kharwadkar,additional city engineer of PMC.
The issue was raised by APRA in the recently held Lokshahi din. We have been following up the matter with the civic administration from past three years and now have got an assurance of action, said Girish Deshpande of APRA.
He said that a private party was running a club in the open space in contravention to the rules of PMC building department.
As per the rules the space shall be benefit the members of the society. The open space shall be made accessible to all the members as a place of recreation,garden or a play ground.
The open space can not be accessed by every resident of Anand Park,as per the existing laws.
Those who want to access the club must pay heavy fees to a third party who is conducting commercial business on a public space in contravention of rules,Deshpand said.
