Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the Pune municipal authorities to register criminal offences against individuals and industrial units carrying out illegal water extraction,those using more than one water connection and against tanker owners selling water at inflated prices.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has instructed the Pune municipal authorities to register criminal offences against individuals and industrial units carrying out illegal water extraction,those using more than one water connection and against tanker owners selling water at inflated prices. He was speaking at the a meeting of PMC authorities,district administration and public representatives at Vidhan Bhavan on Saturday. Pawar also directed PWD to halt the works undertaken by them temporarily. “The state will provide funds for construction of 100 cement dams in the district. Fifteen earthmoving machines will be provided to tehsil offices to undertake desilting of ponds,” said Pawar.

Teachers to go on day-long strike

Over 150 teachers from various universities in the state will go on a day-long strike on Monday. They claim that they have not been given jobs despite clearing the NET/SET exams. There are over 750 such teachers in Pune alone. In Pune,the teachers will gather in front of the office of the vice-chancellor of the University of Pune (UoP).
