Rev Mathew Thomas succumbs to road mishap injuries
Rev Mathew Thomas,47,Vicar St Peters Mar Thoma Church (Wanowrie),succumbed to injuries on Friday following a road accident on April 14. The accident had occurred when the bike he was riding was hit by a car while he was returning to Wanowrie after attending a function at Lulla Nagar. He was undergoing treatment at Jehangir Hospital. His funeral was held at Salem Mar Thoma Church in Pathanapuram on Monday under the leadership of Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan. Several bishops and over hundred clergies along with thousands of mourners joined the procession. Various office bearers of St Peters Mar Thoma Church escorted the body of their priest from Pune to Kerala. Rev Thomas is survived by wife Maya and children Christeena and Edwinton.
PR professional Amit Wadalkar passes away
32-year-old public relations professional Amit Wadalkar died of a cardiac arrest on Saturday. Amit had been working in Pune for the last six years and was a part of the media management teams responsible for organising many important events in the city. He was popular among journalists for being mild-mannered and soft-spoken. I am too shocked to react. He was a thorough gentleman and very hard working youth, said Tushar Joshi of Hundred Per Cent Public Relations,a PR firm with which Amit worked. His last rites were performed at Vaikunth crematorium. Amit is survived by his parents Pramod and Supriya Wadalkar,brother Aniruddh,sister-in-law Gayatri and niece Bhuvana.
Man leaves home for walk,goes missing
Vijay Shripad Kulkarni (49),a resident of Sai Anand Park in Kothrud,went missing on Saturday after he left home for a morning walk. A missing complaint has been registered with the Warje Malwadi police by his brother Rajendra Kulkarni. As per the complaint,Kulkarni was wearing a blue striped shirt and black trousers. He speaks Marathi. The family and the police have appealed to citizens to call up on numbers 9921177592 or 020-65242092 if they have any information about him. People can also call the Warje Malwadi police station by dialling 020-25237777.
15 cars damaged in Paud Phata area
As many as 15 vehicles parked in different societies around Paud Phata were targetted in the early hours of Monday. The vehicle owners have lodged complaints at the Kothrud police station. Police said the car window glasses were smashed mainly for stealing audio systems. The investigation is on to identify the culprits. The vehicles were targeted in Yugai Residency,Nilkalam Nivas,Prabhashali Apartment,Harshad Garden,Pururaj Society,Daulat Society,Akshay Park,Jog Housing Society and Mahaganesh Colony. Police were looking for CCTV footage for clues but most of the societies had no cameras installed.
