With the city receiving 16.1 mm rainfall in 45 minutes on Tuesday, the Met department said that it was part of a local development.

Met officials said there is no sign of monsoon withdrawal from the state for at least a week.

The southwest monsoon withdrawal has been delayed for the fifth time this year. The monsoon usually retreats from September 1 from the northern parts of the country and is expected to completely exit by October 15.

“The delay in monsoon withdrawal is not only for the country but also the state,’’ said met officials.

The factors that delay monsoon withdrawal include the formation of cyclonic systems and the absence of key indicators like reduced moisture, dryness in atmosphere, and change in the wind circulation pattern.
