Pune Division of Central Railway on Friday fined as many as 380 defaulters for unauthorised travel as part of their special drive at Pune station.

380 people fined for unauthorised travel

Pune: Pune Division of Central Railway on Friday fined as many as 380 defaulters for unauthorised travel as part of their special drive at Pune station. The drive,spearheaded by M A Kamble,Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Service),and Alok Badkul,Senior DCM,Pune Division,was undertaken between 6.00 am and 3.00 pm. As many as 346 passengers were caught travelling without ticket,2 were caught travelling in higher class,and 32 were found carrying unbooked luggage. A fine of Rs 1,11,075 was collected from them.

“If any one is caught travelling without ticket,the passenger will have to pay an additional Rs 250 besides the fare amount,” said a railway official.

15 cadets commissioned into armed forces

Pune: Air Marshal B Keshav Rao,AVSM,Director and Commandant,AFMC,on Friday commissioned fifteen cadets into the Armed Forces Medical Services. Air Marshal Rao called upon the officers to win the trust and confidence of their clientele and uphold the great traditions of the Armed Forces Medical Services. “You have been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining and promoting honour and integrity of the country,” he said. The officers will join the ranks of more than 5,700 medical graduates produced by AFMC. Eleven officers were commissioned into Army and two each into Air Force and Navy. The ceremony was attended by the proud parents of the newly commissioned officers.

Workshop on women security today

Pune: CII will organise a special workshop to discuss various issues related to women safety at Bhageerath auditorium on Senapati Bapat Road on Saturday. Slated to begin at 1.30 pm,the workshop will see legal and social luminaries discuss various issues related to women’s safety,including self defence techniques and newly promulgated concept of fast-track courts. Associations such as CII,MCCIA,NHRDN,Pune Hotel Association,Association of Hospitals in Pune have extended their support to the cause and the core group.
