Bomb hoax call at IT park

About 12,000 employees of four multi-national IT companies had to spend about four to five hours outside their offices in Phase II of Hinjewadi IT park after security superviser with one of the companies got a hoax call of a bomb in one of the buildings.

Senior inspector Ganpat Mandgulkar of Hinjewadi police station said,”At about 3.30 pm,a security superviser with one of the IT companies got a call that a bomb was kept in a building of that company.

The caller just hung up without speaking anything further. We had to evacuate about 12,000 employees of four companies housed in six buildings. Teams from Hinjewadi police and bomb detection and disposal squad checked all the premises, but nothing suspicious was found anywhere.” Police said the search went on for about five hours. Police are trying to trace the caller. In March 2011 Hinjewadi police had arrested one Kiran Vinayak Gaikwad (23) making a hoax bomb call to an IT company.
