Boy,his parents held,cops suspended after girl ends life

The Pune rural police have arrested a boy and his parents on charges of allegedly harassing a 16-year-old girl who committed suicide.

The Pune rural police have arrested a boy and his parents on charges of allegedly harassing a 16-year-old girl who committed suicide on Tuesday. Three policemen have been suspended for negligence in registering a case when the girl and her father approached the police station. Those suspended are Inspector Rajendra Patil and constables H R Bendbhar and Sandeep Sapkal.

The girl,a class 11 student at a local junior college,ended her life by jumping from a water tank in Talegaon Dabhade at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday. At the hospital,she was declared dead on arrival. Her parents have alleged that she committed suicide as the police had ignored her complaint against the boy.

The Pune rural police made the arrests on Thursday and produced the three before the court,which remanded them to police custody till October 22. The police have found that the girl and her father,an advocate,had gone to Talegaon Dabhade police station on Tuesday morning but the police did not register their complaint. Additional SP Vijaykumar Magar said,“Further probe in the case is on.”
