A nine-year-old boy was found dead in the bushes near Central School on Dehu Road on Monday.

Police have identified the deceased as Akshay Suresh Patil,a resident of Alka Puri on Dehu Road. Police suspect that Akshay was murdered by a man in love with his mother.

Police said Akshay’s mother Mangala is a widow and earns her livelihood by weaving autorickshaw hood. After Akshay’s father died owing to illness a few years ago,Mangala developed relationship with one Guddu from Bhiwandi.

She also went to Bhiwandi for staying with him but later shifted to Dehu Road.

Police said on Sunday Guddu came to Mangala’s house on Dehu Road and asked her to come back to Bhiwandi. When she refused,he allegedly picked up Akshay and threatened to murder him.

Later,he called her up saying that he has murdered Akshay and thrown the body near Central School. Mangala launched a search for Akshay with the help of a neighbour.

Police inspector Ram Jadhav of Dehu Road police station said that suspicion is on Guddu. “We found Akshay’s body on Monday morning. Investigation is on,” he said.
