Dr Vikas Amte,who heads Anandvan in Nagpur,one of Indias foremost social projects,released an art book consisting of drawings by mentally challenged women. Maher,a non-governmental organisation in Vadhu on Pune-Ahmednagar Road,which has been sheltering these women who were abandoned by their families were found wandering aimlessly on Punes streets.
The book titled Beyond an Encounter in Art is a joint product of Maher and the Hartheim Institute,Linz,Austria.
Releasing the book,Amte said the book was probably only of its kind and admired the work being done by Maher. The function was also attended by Wolfgang Schwaiger,who heads the Hartheim Institute,and Kristianne Petersmann and Anna Zingarie,who designed the contents of the book. The gathering was also addressed by Dr Mahesh Andar,principal of the Ness Wadia College of Commerce.
