Rajesh Sarkete quit his job as music professor in Devgiri College,Aurangabad in 2002 to start an orchestra of patriotic and religious songs. On Friday,Sarkete with his orchestra ‘Swar Vihar’ which he runs along with his three brothers Sanjay,Vinod and Nitin, performed four songs written and composed by the brothers. One of the songs addressed at children was sung by Renu,Anushka and Payal who are daughters of two of the brothers.
The Sarketes had decided to compose the songs when Anna had announced his hunger strike at Ramlila maidan. From August 16,the day Anna began his campaign, the Sarketes were ready with the songs.
We had performed in Ralegan Siddhi when Anna was fasting at Ramlila maidan. It was then that we were invited by the sarpanch of Ralegan Siddhi Jaisinh Mapari to perform when Anna returned to the village, Rajesh said, They have decided to do live performances of these four songs in all the districts of Maharashtra over the next one year. They are also coming up with a CD of the programme.
The four songs are Anna tum ho ek aandhi, hum bacchon ke tum ho Gandhi,Keh raha hai iss desh ka har naujawan aur nanha, bhrashtachar ko dafan karenge anna,Ek akele anna ji ne banaya karodon ko anna, brashtrachar ko mita denge anna,’ and ‘Ahimsa ki raahon par Anna hum hai tumharesaathi, tumne ek di lalkar naujawan ho haye tayyar’.
We have included all the slogans used by Anna in these four songs,” Rajesh said.
