Over a decade after Pulsar roared out of its stables,Bajaj Auto on Thursday launched Pulsar 200NS in the state and expressed confidence in gaining traction in the sports bike category segment, despite the slowdown.
At the launch in Pune,Bajaj Auto said the next-gen 200NS will redefine motorcycling technology and design as much as the original Pulsar had in 2001. Its is an improvement on the original, with latest features like an SOHC 4-valve triple-spark engine that provides fast and optimal combustion.
It is 27 percent faster than twin-spark and 50 per cent faster than single-spark engines. The liquid cooling offers better engine temperature control that translates into longer engine life,no power fading and lower engine noise, said a release, which added that the 200NS has a six-speed gearbox that ensures great performance across the entire RPM band for a true sports bike experience.
The gas-filled Nitrox Mono suspension improves bike-handling,and the front and real petal disc brakes offer superconfident braking, the company statement said.
Sanjay Saraswat,Vice-President,marketing,Bajaj Auto, said,These sporty iconic motorcycles are a testimony to the companys engineering prowess. The Pulsar 200NS showcases the next leap in technology and design and will set standards for others to follow. We are launching the first Pulsar 200NS in Maharashtra as we feel the state has played a major role in Pulsar completing a decade of dominance with 10 years of leadership in the Indian performance motorcycle market. It will be progressively launched in the rest of the country.
Vimal Sumbly,General Manager (Sales),Bajaj Auto said,Maharashtra is one of the largest markets for the sports segment. We have sold more than 5,50,000 Pulsars in the state and are by far leaders in this segment. Earlier, the segment was largely limited to big cities but now its getting a good demand from smaller towns as well. We expect the Pulsar 200NS to do extremely well in this large and demanding market.
