The nationwide lawyers protest resulted in the deferment to Monday the hearing on the bail pleas of four accused in the NDA recruitment scam,Col Kulbir Singh,staff officer to the NDA commandant,Balkrishna Kanojia,who runs a food stall in Pune,Kanojias employee Vishnu Prasad Sharma,and NDA employee Ramesh Gaikwad.
Defence lawyers Suchit Mundada representing Kanojia,Sharma and Gaikwad and Sudhir Shah,representing Singh,requested the court of CBI special judge D R Mahajan to hear the pleas on Friday. However,CBI special prosecutor Vivek Saxena was not free on that day.
The bail plea of Col A K Singh,presiding officer of examinations at NDA,which was submitted to the court on Wednesday,is likely to be heard on Friday.
Kulbir Singh in conspiracy with the other accused obtained illegal gratification of Rs three to four lakh from each candidate to give them appointment for subordinate staff like cooks,gardeners,lab attendants,library attendants and cadet orderly, the CBI has alleged.
The accused persons allegedly obtained the signatures of candidates who had agreed to pay the bribe on blank sheets,which they later filled with correct answers.
