Eight days after he was shot dead in Manchester,Anuj Bidves body was handed over to the Indian High Commission and Funeral Director following the second post-mortem on Tuesday.
Anujs brother-in-law Rakesh Sonavane said,Anujs body is getting ready for repatriation to India. We have been told that it should take around three more days to complete the repatriation process. But the date when the body will be brought back to Pune is uncertain. Three family members, however, would be leaving for UK on Wednesday to get the body.
The team from Greater Manchester police comprising two officers met Anuj’s family again at his residence on Tuesday. Chief superintendent Jackson read out a statement to the media,”Our role has been to meet the family,to explain about the case so far and of course to go through the last moments of Anuj’s life with them as we understand them to be from the investigation so far. We remain in close contact and shall be so for the coming months,if not years…”
Chief superintendent Jackson added,”After meeting Anuj’s family,we were able to fill in some of the gaps in understanding the events leading up to Anuj’s tragic death. A second post mortem is taking place. After this,Her Majesty’s Coroner will be able to consider the release of Anuj. His family is aware of this and the detailed reasoning behind it.”
