Software major,Amdocs,on Thursday announced its foray into machine-to-machine (M2M) business segment in the Pune market and is aiming at offering solutions to telecom service providers for helping them grow transaction volumes rather than merely add subscribers,to increase revenue and profit margins.
Anshoo Gaur,president,Amdocs India,said the company in a bid to help customers generate new revenue streams is foraying into M2M segment pointing out that the growth for the sector in India was sizeable. The company further said the M2M segment will allow service providers to increase revenue by 5 per cent.
He said the data to be managed under the new service will be offered to companies thereby reducing the cost they will have to incur in the management of data from customers. Gaur said the company will either go for the revenue sharing model or the pay-per user model with the service providers from whom it will generate business under the M2M category. Gaur added,Under this service,people can manage the devices at their home in a much broader digital zone that will simplify their lives.
The solution addresses service providers concerns of margin erosions from related customer support costs by transferring common operational aspects to M2M partners with self management tools for ordering,provisioning and trouble ticketing. The Amdocs connected home solution will offer such services as remote security, Gaur said,adding the M2M solution can also be used in healthcare areas for better patient management.
