Agriculture officers stage sit-in,seek higher pay

As many as 415 Assistant Agriculture Officers from all 13 talukas of Pune district on Friday staged a sit-in in front of the District Collectorate demanding a payscale equivalent to engineers and an increase in travelling allowance.

As many as 415 Assistant Agriculture Officers (AAO) from all 13 talukas of Pune district on Friday staged a sit-in in front of the District Collectorate demanding a payscale equivalent to engineers and an increase in travelling allowance.

“The travelling allowance we are given is as per old rates. We have been demanding that the allowances be increased but our grievances are falling on deaf ears. Also,inputs distribution system of the extension service,which is very complicated,needs to be simplified so that it makes our job easier and at the same time makes the procedure convenient for farmers,” said Navin Borade,one of the protesters. They submitted a memorandum of demands to the office of district superintendent of agriculture.
