ACB nets cops for accepting bribe

The State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested police naik Baban Maruti Jadhav (47) for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from a criminal case suspect. The suspect’s case was registered at the Rajgad police station.

Jadhav attached to the Rajgad police station along with havaldar Sanjay Koli had demanded Rs 40,000 as bribe from Sanjay Shamrao Konde (48) for allegedly weakening the investigation in the criminal case registered against him.

Konde reportedly paid Rs 10,000 to each of the two cops earlier. The cops,however,demanded the remaining amount from him.

Konde was not willing to pay this amount and he filed a complaint with the ACB,Pune office on Monday. A team of ACB led by deputy superintendent Rajendra Galande,inspectors Prakash Shinde,Rajendra Vibhandik laid a trap at Rajgad police station and nabbed police naik Jadhav red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000 from Konde on Tuesday. ACB also booked havaldar Koli.
