South film actor Rajveer Malhotra makes his debut in Bollywood with Dealing.
He grew up watching his uncle directing and producing Tamil films under the banner of Rajveer Productions. After acting in three South Indian films and trying his hand at direction,Rajveer Malhotra is all set to explore new horizons in Bollywood as a lead actor in Dealing. Films are in our family, says Malhotra.
Directed by S Gopala Reddy, who is credited with award-winning films like Varsham and Sri Ramadasu,Dealing is based on the theme of illegal acquisition of land. Malhotra could relate to the subject, because he himself runs a construction business, among other things. I have seen how some construction companies forcefully take away donated land from the poor, and build properties that are sold at sky-high prices. This film aims to bring these issues to light and revive a sense of consciousness the business fraternity and the authorities, and also encourage economically-backward class to fight for their rights, says Malhotra.
The film revolves around the life of the protagonist, essayed by Malhotra, who swears to be the messiah of the poor and the oppressed, after his father is murdered in a spat with some builders who want to take away his land. While actor Rekha plays the role of Rani Maa who brings him up,Nisha Kothari (of Aag and Darna Zaroori Hai fame) is paired opposite Malhotra.
Interestingly, the film will be shot in a few selected locations in Pune, with song sequences to be shot in Goa. Along with two foot-tapping item songs titled Baby and Thagni, the soundtrack include a sufi song and a devotional number. Presently in its production stage, the film is set to hit the screens in July.
