City-based StemOne Biologicals Pvt Ltd has pioneered another breakthrough in the field of cell based therapies and is offering a ray of hope to cerebral palsy patients.

StemOne has accomplished six path-breaking therapies, two of which were conducted in association with two major hospitals Supertech Hospital and AdityaBirla Hospital in the city.

After successfully holding the first cell based therapy against Quadriplegia in Maharashtra,StemOne has targeted cerebral palsy,a disorder that has afflicted more than 40 lakh children in India, said Chaitanya Purandare, chairman and managing director,StemOne Biologicals Ltd.

“Cerebral palsy is a broadterm which encompasses many different disorders of movement and posture,” he added. Those suffering from CP may have increased muscle tone, reduced muscle tone,or acombination of the two (fluctuating tone),” Purandare said

Cell based therapies involve the usage of stem cells, which are entities that hold within themselves the solution to over 75 diseases and disorders including parkinson’s disease, neurodegenerative disorders, cerebral palsy, leukemia, diabetic foot ulcers, pregnancy induced hypertension, cancer and heart disorders.

10-year-old Rohit Deo (name changed) was an uncommonly agitated child. Reason – cerebral palsy (CP). “Our son was suffering from cerebral palsy right from birth. His condition aggravated with time and Rohit became uncontrollably hyperactive,” said his mother.

They tried a number of treatments and medication, but all these proved futile. The treatment with cell based therapy began in October and Rohit began to show a slow, but steady improvement. His hyper activeness has subsided and he is now much calmer and more receptive, says Rohit’s mother.

StemOne Biologicals has extended liaisons to hospitals including Seth Ramdas Shah Memorial Hospital and Research Centre,D.Y. Patil Hospital,Chaitanya Hospital,Sahyadri

Speciality Hospital,Joshi Hosptial and Supertech Hospital. For further details contact 9860076609.
