29 youths arrested in Lonavala get bail

Judicial Magistrate (first class) A D Lokhande of the Wadgaon Maval Court granted bail to the 29 youths who were arrested consuming liquor without obtaining the license and indulging into obscene acts in public during a late night birthday party in Lonavala on Thursday.

A team of Lonavala city police led by inspector Balraj Lanjile had arrested the youths at “Second Home” bungalow in Vanrai society around 2.30 am. Police had seized nine liters of foreign liquor and a DJ system from the spot.

Police had then lodged a complaint against the youths under section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of Indian Penal Code,section 83 and 85 of Bombay Prohibition Act for consuming liquor without licence and section 33 (R) of Bombay Police Act for playing loud music without permission.

They were remanded to police custody for one. Police produced the youths at Wadgaon Maval court on Friday. The court released them on surety bond of Rs 15,000 each.

Police said that medical reports confirmed that youths had consumed liquor. But there were no traces of narcotics substances.
