20 women among 25 arrested for theft

The police have arrested as many as 20 women and five men from different parts of the city

The police have arrested as many as 20 women and five men from different parts of the city for allegedly stealing valuables from the Warkaris,taking advantage of the crowd gathered to take part in the traditional palkhi processions in the last two days.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Bhamre said the police were on alert as they

had suspected criminals from

others cities or states would come to Pune and commit thefts during the “wari”.

Besides,he said,the police had provided a heavy security cover for the processions.

The “wari” would be moving towards Saswad via Dive Ghat on Wednesday. Pune rural police,too,have made tight security arrangements on the route.
