A sessions court on Friday sentence two persons to life imprisonment for killing the son of a contractor who did not allow them to use his construction licence.

The duo had been convicted by additional sessions judge Vinay Joshi for killing Anil Pawar,son of Bhagwan Pawar,on June 18,2011.

According to police,Bhagwan Pawar possesses a construction licence that enables him to take construction works up to Rs 50 lakh. The accused Arun Laxman More,35,and Vilas More,27,residents of Indiranagar in Chinchwad,had approached him with a request to allow them to use his licence to bag construction tender floated by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. But Pawar refused to oblige.

On June 18,the duo attacked Bhagwan’s son Anil Pawar at Shivaji Chowk with knives and swords. He succumbed to injuries while being treated at a city private hospital.

Public prosecutor Vilas Dabeer examined 16 witnesses to prove the charges against the accused. Five other accused were acquitted by the judge.
