2 days,150 calls about money distribution

The control room of Pune police received nearly 150 anonymous calls about distribution of money by political party workers for luring voters in different parts of the city.

The control room of Pune police received nearly 150 anonymous calls about distribution of money by political party workers for luring voters in different parts of the city. Over 100 calls were received on Tuesday alone,while nearly 40 calls were on Wednesday. The control room passed on the information to police. However,when police teams reached the spots given by the callers,no person was found distributing money. Sources from political parties said many candidates distributed money to voters on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police had arrested a few persons campaigning for Nationalist Congress Party candidate Rekha Chandrakant Tingre for allegedly distributing money for the coming civic elections in Bhairva Nagar area of Vishrantwadi,around 1.30 am Tuesday.

The complaint was lodged by rival Congressman Shashikant Tingre,whose wife is also contesting from the same area. Police had also arrested Shashikant’s men following a cross complaint by Rekha Tingre in this case.
