2 cops among 5 hit by car,driver arrested

Cops have arrested the car driver,Arvindkumar Verma,a resident of Krushnakeval Society,Kondhwa.

Three persons,including two police constables on patrolling duty,were injured after a car driven by a 44-year-old man hit them on Sunday on NIBM Road. Cops have arrested the car driver,Arvindkumar Verma,a resident of Krushnakeval Society,Kondhwa.

Sub-inspector R S Kshirsagar said,“Constables B S Menghade and Ganesh Gosavi were on routine patrolling duty on Sunday morning. Around 11.20 am,Verma,who was driving his Santro car,hit them. Both have suffered injuries. Gosavi suffered injuries on the head,hands and legs. He is under treatment and is out of danger.” Kshirsagar added,“Verma went on to hit three motorcycles that came in his way. The rider of the one of the motorcycles,M Khandagale. suffered serious injuries and is under treatment at a private hospital. The two other riders have no injuries.” He said no traces of alcohol were found in Verma’s body.

“He told us he could not understand what happened. A probe is on.” Verma works as a consultant at a private firm,the police said.
