15 cases of chain snatching detected with arrest of 3: Cops

Faraskhana police have arrested three persons and claimed to have detected 15 cases of chain snatching in various parts of the city.

Faraskhana police have arrested three persons and claimed to have detected 15 cases of chain snatching in various parts of the city.

During the routine checking for the festive season,a team from Faraskhana police station got a tip-off that three suspects had come to Sonya Maruti chowk on Monday evening. The three were detained. During sustained interrogation,the police claimed,they confessed to involvement in over 15 cases of chain snatching. The three are Kuldeep Shelar (23),Deepak Chavan (20) and Sagar Ughade (23),all residents of Shirur.

Talking about their modus operandi,senior inspector Bhanupratap Barge of Faraskhana police said: “One of them would to spot the target,another would wait on a bike at some distance away for the third person who would snatch the chain and reach him at the designated spot.” Along with Barge,the investigating team comprised API Geeta Bagawade and constables Sunil Pawar,Ganesh Salunkhe,Naresh Balsane,Kisan Wadekar and Mahesh Bamgude.
