Even if girls have outshone boys in Class XII results in terms of overall passing percentage,a majority of boys have outclassed girls in scoring 90 per cent or above this year.
The number of boys scoring 90 per cent or above has increased by 6,646 as compared to the previous year. On the other hand,5,368 more girls scored 90 per cent or above as compared to the previous year.
As many as 1,490 boys have scored 95 per cent or above this year as compared to girls. While 1,285 girls scored more than 95 per cent. A total of 22,607 boys out of 5,12,142 appearing from Ajmer,Panchkula,Guwahati,Chennai,Allahabad,Bhubaneshwar,Patna and Delhi zones of CBSE have scored more than 90 per cent this year. As many as 22,069 girls out of 3,76427 appearing from all over India scored 90 per cent or above this year. Also,3,432 boys have scored 95 per cent and above while the number of girls achieving same feat is 3,799 from the same combined region.
Pass percentage of girls is 87.98 as compared to that of boys which is 77.78.
There is no particular reason behind girls outshining boys in overall passing percentage every year. It is heartening to see boys are improving their performance when it comes to scoring 90 per cent and above, Kendriya Vidyalaya principal,K I Lale said.
