On F&CC agenda: Cars worth Rs 21.10 lakh to be bought for officials

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will be purchasing cars worth Rs 21.10 lakh for its officials. As per the details, the agenda of purchasing a Maruti Ciaz car and two Mahindra Boleros camper would come up before the Finance and Contract Committee. While Ciaz would be purchased for Chief Engineer, the Boleros would be purchased for the horticulture wing.

According to the details, the Ambassador car which the then chief engineer was using had met with an accident and it was not in a working condition, so there was a need to purchase a Maruti Ciaz worth Rs 8.09 lakh for the CE. Other than this, the Finance and Contract Committee would take up the matter of setting up physiotherapy centres in all the dispensaries of Chandigarh.

Also, the issue of smart parking would be taken up since only one firm came forward during the technical bids. The Finance and Contract Committee would decide whether re-tendering needs to be done.

The smart parking aimed to make the chaotic parking in city systematic. As the civic body had invited big companies, only one came forward. According to the smart parking system, there was to be a central server, which would connect the management of all the parking lots. A mobile application was to be in place for city residents where they could see the live status of the parking situation in a particular parking lot. Also, there would be smart rechargeable cards for entry at the parking lots, which would be made at the e-sampark centres. The parking lots were to be made fully automatic with boom barriers.

Not just this, on the agenda, the reserve price for 11 village shops at Badheri, Buterla and Burail villages on a leasehold basis for 99 years would also come up. The installation of grass pavers at various sectors would also be discussed.

Fixing grass pavers in Sector 37, which is Mayor Arun Sood’s ward, and Sector 40 would be coming up before the committee on Tuesday. The rough estimates for those in Sector 37 are for about Rs 25.13 lakh while for those in Sector 40 are for Rs 46.12 lakh.
