A delegation of 50 councillors and senior officers from the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, Telangana, on Wednesday visited Chandigarh to study various projects. The delegation was led by Nizamabad Mayor Akula Sujatha, who was welcomed by her Chandigarh counterpart Arun Sood.
Chandigarh municipal commissioner Baldeo Purushartha made a detailed presentation of various developmental projects of the civic body, including water supply system, sewerage disposal system, sanitation system and beautification of the city.
The Nizamabad team was on a tour to study the local administration, various reforms undertaken in Chandigarh and major projects of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. They visited water works in Sector 39 and to understand how the water supply system in Chandigarh works.
The delegation also took round of the city roads and big parks, including Rose Garden in Sector 16, Japanese Garden in Sector 31, Fragrance Garden in Sector 36, Terraced Garden in Sector 33 and also visited the Sewerage Treatment Plant. Mayor Sujatha appreciated the projects undertaken by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and lauded the way the green belts are maintained in the city. She also requested Sood and Purushartha to plan a visit to Nizamabad along with other councilors and officers.
