Woman injured in stone pelting during SP campaign

A 21-year-old woman suffered head injuries after she was hit by a stone during campaigning of the Samajwadi Party in Kandivali on Thursday.

A 21-year-old woman suffered head injuries after she was hit by a stone during campaigning of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Kandivali on Thursday. The Kandivali police have registered a case against three unidentified persons.

The police said around 12.30 pm,SP candidate from ward number 19 Manisha Yadav and her father Kamlesh Yadav,along with 200-odd supporters,were campaigning for the upcoming civic polls,when unknown persons started pelting stones at the crowd near Symphony Building,Kandivali.“The victim,Heena Jaiswal,who was part of the campaign has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital,” said senior police inspector Harishwar Pimple. “We have registered a case against three unknown persons under Section 324 of the IPC (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). A probe is on,” said Pimple. “We are also probing the possibility that it could just be a political publicity stunt,” said a police officer.
