THE THANE Government Railway Police (GRP) is probing the case of a lady police constable whose body was found on the railway tracks between Thane and Kalwa on August 15. While an accidental death report (ADR) was filed in the matter, the police is probing whether there was any foul play.
According to police, Madhuri Salunkhe, a constable attached with the Mumbai Police had last reported to work on August 14. In the afternoon after completing her shift at the Worli police station, Madhuri left for her home in Turbhe, where she lived with her sister.
When she did not reach her residence, her sister started looking for her. Salunkhe’s body was found on the railway track between Thane and Kalwa on August 15.
Sanjeev Pimple, senior inspector, Thane GRP, said that they are investigating if it was an accidental death, a case of suicide or a murder.
“Since her body was found between two railway stations, there were no CCTV cameras that captured her death. Also, she normally took a train from Thane to Rabale. We do not know what she was doing on the tracks between Thane and Kalwa,” said Pimple.
