Minister for cultural affairs Vinod Tawde called a meeting with the members of the Urdu Sahitya Academy on Wednesday to chalk out plans to promote Urdu language in Maharashtra in 2017.
Tawde has asked the academy to submit a detailed timetable of programmes and events to be held throughout 2017.
“The minister assured us support. He has asked for details of events to be held next year so the budget can be planned in advance. Tawdeji also encouraged us to start planning for our event Jash-e-Hindustan, an all India Mushaira function held on January 26 every year at the Gateway of India,” said Farooq Sayed, member of MRUSA.
