Vijaya Rahatkar to head Maharashtra women’s commission

Rahatkar has also served as corporator, and in the state women cell in Auranagabad Municipal Corporation.

The state government has appointed Vijaya Rahatkar to head the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. Rahatkar, who hails from Aurangabad, is all India BJP Mahila Morcha president.

Rahatkar has also served as corporator, and in the state women cell in Auranagabad Municipal Corporation.

The other members in the commission include Vrinda Kirtikar (Mumbai), Devyani Thakre (Jalgaon), Gayatri Karad (Beed). Shoba Vaijyanath Bejange (Latur), Nita Thakre (Nagpur) and Asha Landge (Mumbai).

The appointment of Landge is a gesture to give representation to the alliance partner RPI, which supports the BJP-led alliance in Maharashtra.
