Ved Prakash was in outstanding form as he scored three times to record a second half hat-trick and steer Indian Navy to a straightforward 5-1 victory against Union Bank of India (UBI) in a league match of the Mumbai Magicians-MHAL Super League,at the MHAL Stadium,Churchgate.

Heera Singh and Naveen Kumar got the two early goals to give the sailors a 2-0 first half cushion before Prakash got into the scoring act after the break. Ksh Wangamba struck in the final moments of the match to gain a consolation for UBI.

This was the second successive win for Navy and they now tally seven points from three games and are placed third. Union Bank have three points from a win and two defeats.

Earlier,former champion Western Railway faced little difficulty in storming to a 6-1 win against a jaded Sports Authority of India (SAI). Jay Karan and Gurmeet Singh netted a brace each while Gurshran Singh and Mohd Irshad Mirza struck one each to complete the tally for the railwaymen. Sports Authority of India pulled one back through skipper Manpreet Singh.

Following their third win on the trot Western now have nine points,the same as leaders Central Railway,but occupy the second position due to an inferior goal-difference. SAI suffered their third straight loss and have just a solitary point from their draw with Indian Navy.

Western Railway’s Jay Karan and Indian Navy’s Ved Prakash were both declared ‘man of the match’ in their respective games and received a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
