Two held in Powai for smuggling spurious liquor

According to the police, a red Hyundai Santro car raced past a drunk driving nakabandi in Powai just past midnight on Tuesday.

Two men were arrested in Powai early on Tuesday morning after they were found to be transporting spurious country liquor in a car.

According to the police, a red Hyundai Santro car raced past a drunk driving nakabandi in Powai just past midnight on Tuesday. Two constables followed the car and forced it to stop at Morarji Nagar. The driver got out and began to run but he was caught, said an officer at Powai police station.

On examining the car, the police allegedly found eight rubber tubes and four plastic pouches filled with approximately 32 litres of spurious liquor. The accused, identified as Mushtak Ansari (60) and Ramchandra Mishra (51), have been remanded to police custody, he officer said.
