Two arrested for jewellery shop heist

The crime Branch has arrested two persons — Parshuram Chaudhary and Datta Kshirsagar — for stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 13.92 lakh from a Borivali (East) shop.

The crime Branch has arrested two persons — Parshuram Chaudhary (31) and Datta Kshirsagar (36) — for stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 13.92 lakh from a Borivali (East) shop on July 11. Police said the duo,arrested by Unit 12 of crime branch from the junction leading to Sanjay Gandhi National Park,had several cases registered against them in Mumbai and Thane.

Police said the arrest was made on basis of jail records and method of operation of habitual offenders. “Both Chaudhary and Kshirsagar had managed to sneak in and escape without being spotted. They had ensured that the CCTV camera in the shop would not be able to capture images of their faces.”

The officer said they also got records of offenders wanted in break-in cases who were released from prisons recently. “We got information that the two were coming to the junction. A trap was laid and they were arrested. They have been handed over to the Kasturba Marg police with whom the case has been registered. They have confessed to the crime” Chaudhari had earlier been arrested in eight cases while Kshirsagar has 20 cases against him.
