Having gone through a brutal assault by three of his college-mates earlier this month, a 19-year-old student of a Bandra college realised, to his shock, that his ordeal was far from over, after a video of the assault went viral and reached him.

The boy told his parents about the assault, who then approached the police Sunday, and the three college-mates were arrested Monday.

According to the Amboli police, the victim, Ayush Panchal, got a video on his cell phone via message and media sharing application WhatsApp on Sunday, in which he was being mercilessly assaulted by three boys from his college. On making inquiries, he found out that the video had gone viral.

Ayush subsequently told his parents about the entire incident and how he was warned to stay away from a girl with whom one of the boys  was in a relationship. Later on Sunday, a case was registered against the trio identified as Harish Faizullah Khan (19), Adam Ali Sehlot (21) and Riyaz Fukran Ansari (20).

“On November 15, the trio called Ayush and asked him to meet them near the Raheja Classic building in Oshiwara. When he went there, they made him sit inside a taxi and then the three boys slapped and punched him. They felt that he was getting too close to Khan’s girlfriend, which did not go down well with them.  Ansari then shot a video of the assault, and made Ayush promise, on camera, that he would stay away from the girl,” said a source close to the family.

Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Khatkare, Amboli police station added, “The trio took Ayush till Khira Nagar in Santacruz, where they forced him into another taxi and took him to Bandra.

Khan, Ansari and Sehlot  will be produced in court on Tuesday. They have been charged with kidnapping and assault under the IPC.
