The extended Thackeray family has decided to refrain from having lavish celebrations of their birthdays this year. MNS president Raj Thackeray has decided to skip his birthday celebrations on June 14 in view of the death of senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde. Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray, who celebrates his birthday on June 13, has sent out a message to his supporters asking them to refrain from putting up hoardings or distributing any kind of food. “Please do not distribute any kind of food. However noble the intentions might be and the thought behind it, food poisoning is something that can happen to anyone, especially during monsoon,” Aditya said in his message. Birthday celebrations of politicians in the state are said to be a display of the individual’s power and clout. However, with elections around the corner, many politicians are refraining from any ostentatious display.
