IN THE case of an Andheri school teacher booked for allegedly sexually abusing students in 2014, one of the teachers was declared hostile by the prosecution on Monday. The teacher, who was the first person some of the victims had approached on the alleged sexual abuse they were facing, did not support the prosecution case. Special public prosecutor Usha Jadhav said the teacher said the police had never recorded her statement.
Jadhav said while the statement before the police given by the teacher stated in detail the alleged sexual harassment three of the girls faced, the teacher denied the police took her statement. So far, the principal of the school has deposed in the case. The principal was sacked by the school’s management after which the case hit headlines. In a long battle which reached the Supreme Court, the principal was reinstated in March this year.
