Culinary expert Jiggs Kalra is on an expansion spree across India.

HIS signature fine-dining debut in Mumbai,Punjab Grill in Lower Parel,has its own set of takers. Yet,the eatery has never featured in the list of the city’s best. But culinary expert Jiggs Kalra isn’t discouraged and instead is expanding his presence in the city. Kalra and his son Zorawar have collaborated with Mirah Group to launch a new hospitality venture,Massive Restaurants Pvt Ltd. As part of this,Kalra will launch a number of fine dining,casual dining eateries and sweet shops across the country.

“The fine-dining eateries will be called Masala Library and the food served will be prepared using age-old techniques of Indian cooking,some of which are no more in practice,” he says. The first outlet will open at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The casual dining restaurants will be called Made In Punjab and the chain of sweet shops,which Kalra says will retail luxury sweets,Mithai.

While the 100-seater Masala Library’s opening in BKC is planned for later this month,the restaurateur plans to open nearly 10 new restaurants by the end of this year in Bangalore,Kolkata and Chennai.
