A possible motive for Raghuveer Singh to kill his mother Sandhya was that he was sore over being frequently humiliated by her,Crime Branch officers said Thursday. Sandhya had been accused Raghuveer of stealing money and valuables in the presence of domestic helps, they said.

“Three domestic helps working in the Singh household have told us Sandhya would openly say in their presence that no valuables were safe in the house. The humiliation was a sore point between mother and son and sparked many arguments between them,” said a Crime Branch officer.

In August, the Crime Branch had also learned that contrary to initial information that Sandhya had gone to deposit her jewellery in a bank the day she went missing, she had actually left with the intention of depositing a large amount of cash. She had been reportedly fed up with the frequent arguments as well

as Raghuveer’s demands

for money.

“We have recorded

statements of 40-50 people about various aspects of the case so far,” the officer added.

Sandhya, the sister of musician duo Jatin-Lalit as well as yesteryear actors Sulakshna and Vijeta Pandit, went missing on December 13 last year. Her partial skeleton was found near Palm Beach Road on January 28. Raghuveer, whose anticipatory bail applications were rejected by the Thane Sessions Court,Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court, surrendered to the Crime Branch Monday and was remanded in police custody till December 27.
