The Bandra police Saturday evening arrested a 32-year-old man from Dharavi for allegedly stalking actress Shruti Haasan.
Police said the suspect,Ashok Shankar Trimukhe,was identified on the basis of CCTV footage from the building in Bandra (W) where the actor lives.
On Thursday,the actor had lodged a police complaint alleging that a man had tried to barge into her flat. The police later lodged an FIR for criminal trespass against an unidentified
Trimukhe,who is a spot boy and works at Film City,has told the police the whole incident was a misunderstanding and that he had gone to Haasans residence on Tuesday to ask for a job for his unemployed younger brother.
The mans sister is a hairdresser and also works at Film City, said S Kolhelar,assistant commissioner of police (Bandra).
According to Kolhelar,when Trimukhe entered Haasans house and asked for a job,Haasan panicked and began pushing him out of
the door. Trimukhe has also told the police he was not aware that Haasan was alone at home at the time.
Trimukhe said that in an attempt to explain to Haasan,he tried to stop her from closing the door and in the process she was hurt,
The police have arrested Trimukhe for trespassing and causing hurt to Haasan.
According to Haasans complaint,she heard her door bell ring around 9.30 am on Tuesday. When she opened the door to her sixth-floor apartment,a man tried to barge into the house by pushing her. The actor,though stunned,managed to ensure she did not let him in.
The man,however,kept pushing against the door and asked her why she had not recognised him.
Haasan told police she remembered seeing the man at Film City and Mehboob studios where she was shooting. She also recalled an earlier incident when he allegedly tried to enter her vanity van but was stopped by her hair dresser and other staff. According to the her,he had also tried to approach the actor again at the shoot asking her whether she had recognised him.
