FORMER media honcho Peter Mukerjea, arrested in the Sheena Bora murder case, has filed his second bail application, saying charges brought against him by the CBI’s were false. The application says it was Peter’s wife Indrani, prime accused in the case, who hatched the plan and carried out the murder, calling her “ambitious, calculative and adept at lying”.
Peter’s lawyers have listed nine instances to contend that Sheena’s murder was planned and executed by Indrani alone. Peter has accused Indrani of lying to mislead him. Peter’s legal team has compared the two chargesheets filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and claimed that the CBI assigned contradictory roles to Peter.

Indrani, the bail application states, “was highly ambitious and was willing to sacrifice and give up her own children to achieve her ambitions”. Peter also claims that Indrani hid her past and her previous relationships from him and did not tell him that Sheena and Mekhail Bora were her biological children.
The bail application accuses Indrani of being “extremely controlling” and having “a strong grip on her employees”. It lists her personal secretary, driver, parents and a Mumbai-based psychiatrist among those she allegedly influenced and also lied to.
According to the application, Indrani was also allegedly unhappy about Sheena’s affair with Peter’s son Rahul Mukerjea. The application accuses her of tricking Sheena and gaining her confidence before killing her. “She was very calculative and even resorted to subterfuge in the months of March and April 2012 while tricking Sheena into believing that Indrani was ready and willing to forget the past acrimony and anger and turn into a friend and well-wisher of Sheena, in order to lure Sheena into her plan of murdering her,” the application states.
Peter claims to be a “concerned father, worried about his son”, with no motive to murder Sheena. Terming the CBI’s case as “false, baseless and unbelievable”, the application says he had nothing to gain from Sheena’s death and that he did not see her as a threat to his position and reputation.
It is absurd, the application states, that Peter, “a super achiever, who is well loved and respected in his professional and social circle as a man of honour, character and intelligence, would knowingly cohabit with a woman with such a shady past like Indrani who had hidden vital issues and facts of her past from him, and then go ahead and conspire with her to murder a girl whom he hardly knew well and from whom he or his reputation or his family members were not in any danger and from whose murder, he had no benefit or gain to make”.
The special CBI court here had rejected his first bail application in February. The application is likely to come up for hearing next week.
