Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, filed an application before a CBI court Friday seeking bail on medical grounds. She cited her deteriorating health inside Byculla Jail and said she was hospitalised twice last year.
The application comes a day after CBI was granted permission to conduct further interrogation of Indrani, her co-accused and former husband Sanjeev Khanna, besides former driver Shyamvar Rai.
Her application runs into 17 pages but also includes 50 pages of medical records obtained from the jail and J J Hospital. The application states that she had been diagnosed with chronic ischemia, which restricts blood supply to the brain, by J J Hospital in October, during her second visit there.
She had first fainted inside her jail cell on September 26. In the early hours of October 2, she fainted once again and was shifted to JJ Hospital in the afternoon. Her application said she was taken to hospital, “which is 45-60 minutes away”, after six hours in spite of her ill health on that day. An inquiry by jail authorities concluded that Indrani had a “history of fainting”.
