Senior citizen couple found murdered at home

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Nauseer Irani (76) and his wife Nargis (74) who were found dead in the home.

The Palghar police is investigating the double murder of a senior citizen couple on Tuesday who were found dead at their residence in Palghar.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Nauseer Irani (76) and his wife Nargis (74) who were found dead in the home.

“The couple were murdered somewhere between the 6 pm on Tuesday and 9 am on Wednesday. There were serious and deep injuries to their head and necks that could have resulted in their death.” said Vijay Sagar Deputy superintendent of police, Palghar.

According to the police the complainant, a 35-year-old man, saw four unknown persons outside the victim’s house in the Kalambatpada area of Palghar at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

“The complainant in his statement to the police has stated that he saw four persons with knives and axes outside the main door of the senior citizen’s bungalow,” said a police officer “There are signs of forced entry at the main door and the cupboards in the house also are broken,” said a police officer with the Talasari police. A total of  Rs 4.9 lakh was missing from the house, mostly in the form of jewelry.

The police have registered a case of murder and house break-in under the Indian Penal code against an unknown person. The police have sent the bodies for postmortem and are awaiting the results of the medical examination.
